Throughout his entire life, Percy spent almost every weekday romping around the Churchill Park dog area with either Herb or Nick, his faithful dog walkers. Even the day before he died, Percy was there doing his thing. Because he was such a fixture at the park and people and other dogs knew him, I realized donating a bench in his name would be a great memorial.
The memorial bench, done through the Chicago Park District, is now complete. Located right on the border of Bucktown and Wicker Park and just off The 606’s Damen Avenue entrance, I’d encourage everyone to stop by; please reach out if you do… I may try and coerce you into a photo.
Due to a very special bond between Percy and my parents, Joaquin and Marie Hope, they insisted on contributing a significant amount to the costs. In addition, a number of friends wanted to be part of Percy’s legacy and gave generously to his memory. Those people are:
